These Bite‑Sized PDs are designed to support teachers of multilingual learners with clear, practical, research‑aligned strategies they can use tomorrow. Each one distills a high‑impact routine into a single, visually supported page. The three to the right are free to all educators, while the entire set is available for districts as part of my consulting and professional learning partnerships.

Academic Vocabulary Routines are structured, predictable practices that help students learn, use, and retain the high‑utility academic vocabulary needed for reading, writing, and disciplinary thinking.

Annotation Routines are structured ways for students to mark, label, and interact with text to support comprehension, vocabulary development, and academic thinking. They make thinking visible, reduce cognitive load, and lead MLs to process complex texts independently.

Utilizing cognates & cross‑linguistic connections helps students leverage what they already know in one language to understand and produce academic language in another. It activates prior knowledge, reduces cognitive load, and accelerates content vocabulary growth.
